As I stood at the boat launch at Montague Midden Beach, looking northwest toward Parker, Wise, Saltspring, and Vancouver Islands, the sun broke through the clouds that had been stubbornly hanging around all day. The Midden Beach is the historical location of an Indigenous summer settlement. It's a gorgeous spot due to all the shells, built up over thousands of years of villagers eating their meals on and near the beach, not to mention the great geology visible in the foreground when the tide is not at it's highest. 2017
