Beached

This tiny white sand beach, (maybe 40 feet across) slopes gently into the water on an uninhabited island on the BC coast. The log that beached itself during a high tide and worked it's way to define the intersection between the tidal zone and the land itself, was sculptural from some angles. The shapes and shadows it created, attracted me to paint it. Reference is from a 2017 visit by private boat access from which a group of us did two plein air days, returning back to our accommodation overnight.
