“Mrs G_____________ Goes For A Walk”

This painting came about through a commission from a couple where one of them grew up in the town in the painting in County Kerry, Ireland. Early in 2018 the old lady in the painting passed away and the photographer's permission was obtained to use the image to create the painting. The client knew Mrs G________ when she was growing up in Ireland and in this photo Mrs G___________ reminds her of her own aunt. I loved painting this image. The shapes of the houses, the lines of the composition and the colours were irresistible . The implied story of the old woman and her little dog, the mood of the scene with the lights coming on, on a dull day. From start to finish it was a joy to create a reminder of home and those loved there, for someone who has now made their home in Canada.
