Blog - A Palette of Ideas - on being an artist

Hello Everyone,
First of all I hope that all of you will soon get to see the people you have been missing the most these last 16 months.

An update about upcoming shows:

As we begin to see the light at the end of the tunnel with the pandemic and people are getting out more, I am putting work out on show. I have been busy in my studio for the last 16 mo, creating new work, as well as teaching a weekly drop in online. Art has been a lifeline to avoid distraction and connect to others via online platforms.

Currently I have work in Gallery 1710, at 1710 56th st in Tsawwassen, as part of our 'With Gratitude' Show. This is the South Delta Artists' Guild's home gallery and our chance as a Guild to thank all of the essential workers who have kept us healthy, safe and supplied during  these long months. Anyone may visit the show to decompress among over 150 beautiful and varied pieces by a large variety of our guild members.

The show runs until July 4th, Friday to Sunday 12 -4 and is staffed by member volunteer docents.

Everyone is welcome to purchase, however to thank our essential workers we offer a 20% discount on any pieces in the show they purchase. In addition there is a draw to win one of 5 donated paintings by 5 member artists.

I have 5 pieces in the show and a 6th one of my pieces, shown below along with the show poster, is one of the paintings in the essential workers free draw.

If you, or anyone in your family or friend group is an essential worker please let them know we'd love to see them at the gallery.

Starting on July 10th and running until August 1, I will have work in the Guild's 'Summer Showcase' show same hours as above.

New pieces are underway for Art and Soul Craft Gallery on Galiano Island and Muddy River Landing in Ladner as things open up and people venture out to enjoy the summer.

I do commission work as well, should you need something special and specific for yourself or for a gift. One completed piece is headed to the UK with someone who is going home after working here in the medical profession as a memory of her time in the BC backcountry. Another is leaving for Vancouver Island with a family who is moving off a Gulf Island after many years, and still another is planned for a gift.

I wish you all well and hope you will visit my website to see new images and favourites. Thank you to all who have purchased art since the pandemic began. Being creative and making connections through art has been a positive that many of you have made possible. Feel free to get in touch in the contact area.
